- Soft Washing
Soft washing was developed by AC Lockyer with his knowledge and experience in plant sciences and horticulture. AC knew that the bacteria, molds, fungi, and algae growing on the exterior of buildings were more closely associated with an infection than a stain. Knowing this AC drew from his experiences and combined the technology of treating pests and fungus on plants with compatible cleaning chemicals, thereby inventing a method of soft washing.
Soft washing is the use of water-based, biodegradable chemicals to break down dirt and grime, remove bug nests and webs, kill mold, mildew, algae and bacteria – leaving the surface clean and sanitized.
Soft washing uses only one-third of the water that pressure or power washing does, lasts 4 - 6 times longer, and doesn't wear down or damage the surface like power washing frequently can. Soft washing also does a lot more than pressure washing because it does more than just clean your roof. The products utilized in the SoftWash System do not simply clean; they penetrate, sterilize, and completely remove the root of the issue.
Treating your roof with soft washing is more like bug control – the mix of safe, eco-friendly chemicals make sure that the microbes that create buildup are not just partially swept away, but removed completely.
A NEW OPTION TO PRESSURE / POWER WASHING!
Now instead of the blowing and blasting of pressure washing, property owners could have cleanings done without the damages normally associated with pressure washing. Soft washing then developed ways to clean other surfaces in differing regions of the country. Once just used to eradicate mold and mildew, SoftWash Systems developed new chemicals and techniques to take this advanced cleaning into dry, arid climates as well.
Roof Cleaning and Beyond
Soft washing can be performed on a plethora of surfaces where algae and bacteria grow. The same bacterium that causes black streaks on roofs can also grow on:
- Vinyl Siding
- And more…
If you're looking for a method to get rid of what's cultivating on the surface of your roof, deck or fence, break the cycle of annoying power washing and use a solution that can eradicate the issue 100%.
Eco-Friendly, Biodegradable Chemicals in SoftWash
Oftentimes, people are scared of the word "chemicals," but it's really not such a dirty word. Everything is a chemical, even water (hydrogen dioxide).
The chemicals utilized in soft washing help break down contaminants and infestations, so they can be quickly rinsed away. They do all the work without all the pressure. Our chemicals are water based, ship non-hazardous, and are biodegradable, meaning they break down into carbon and water within twenty (20) days after their introduction into the environment; leaving no contaminants behind.
4 Main Reasons to Use Soft Washing
There are plenty of reasons to pick soft washing over pressure or power washing, but here are our biggest reasons:
- Alternative to pressure washing
Power washing creates erosion and strips away materials that might have been loosened up by decay or aging. It may be appropriate for some jobs and not others.
- It actually treats the infestation
Your house isn't just dirty – it's infected. Regular power washing merely gets rid of the outer layer of this biomass and doesn't solve the root of the issue, leaving your surface vulnerable again not long after power washing is finished.
- No damage from pressure
Poorly trained or inexperienced pressure washers can cause serious damage to a roof or other surfaces, particularly if it's older to start with.
- More sustainable cleaning option
Power washers use from 3 to 8 gallons of water per minute (gpm). In one hour of washing a pressure washer can utilize from 180 gallons upwards to 480 gallons of water. Alternatively, soft washing just uses approximately 60 gallons of cleaning solution, which consists of about 40 gallons of water.
The cleaning solution is so effective that it lasts 4 – 6 times longer than pressure washing, making it more sustainable for the environment and your wallet.
